Air Release has become one of the most important developments in reflective vehicle marking, and it is transforming the way chevron kits are fitted across the UK. Whether you are fitting a single van or completing multi-vehicle fleet work, Air Release makes the entire process faster, cleaner and far more reliable.
At Chevron Warehouse, Air Release technology is now built into three of our core material grades: Engineering, Premium, and Premium+. This upgrade has been made specifically to support installers and trade professionals who want consistent, high-quality results with less downtime and less frustration.
Below, we break down what Air Release actually is, how it works, and why so many fitters now refuse to use anything else.

What Is Air Release?
Air Release is a specialist adhesive system built into certain reflective films. Instead of using a flat, traditional adhesive, Air Release films contain micro-channels within the adhesive layer. These microscopic escape routes allow trapped air to move freely under the material and release cleanly through the edges during fitting.
This means the installer is no longer fighting against bubbles, trapped pockets of air or adhesive creases that traditionally slow the job down.
Put simply, Air Release gives you control instead of resistance.

Why Fitters Swear By It

Fewer Bubbles and Imperfections
One of the biggest frustrations in chevron installation is trapped air. Even experienced fitters will confirm that reflective materials can be unforgiving. With Air Release, bubbles escape naturally, meaning the film settles flatter, cleaner and with far fewer imperfections. This reduces rework and virtually eliminates “start again” moments.
Cleaner, More Professional Finishes
With fewer air pockets interfering with the application, the final finish is noticeably smoother. This is especially important for flooded panels, where larger uninterrupted surfaces show every detail. A cleaner finish not only looks more professional but also improves long-term durability because the material bonds more consistently to the panel.
Faster, More Predictable Installations
When you remove the battle against trapped air, installations move significantly faster. Fleet roll-outs benefit the most, especially when multiple vehicles need fitting in a tight time window. Installers can maintain speed without sacrificing quality, which is crucial when downtime costs money.
Many fitters report that Air Release can cut installation time dramatically, allowing more jobs to be completed per day and reducing fatigue during high-volume projects.
Easier for Less Experienced Installers
Not every fitting environment has seasoned, highly trained applicators. Air Release brings consistency to all skill levels, which is why trade customers appreciate it for internal teams. The material is more forgiving, easier to reposition and far less likely to wrinkle during alignment.

Reduced Waste and Fewer Rejects
Because Air Release makes fitting smoother and more predictable, fewer panels are wasted through misalignment or bubbling. This lowers material costs and protects installer margins. For large-scale fleets, this can mean substantial savings over time.

Which Chevron Warehouse Materials Use Air Release?
Air Release technology is now available in three of our upgraded material grades:
Engineering Grade
Our most budget-friendly option now fits significantly better thanks to the Air Release adhesive. Ideal for low-speed vehicles, small contractors and cost-conscious users who still want an easy installation.
Premium Grade
This grade already delivers high-quality prismatic reflectivity. Air Release enhances it by making the fitting process faster and cleaner, particularly valuable on larger A-road or fleet vehicles working up to 70 mph.
Premium+ (Avery V8000 + Aura 139)
Premium+ is the preferred material for installers because Avery V8000 is already highly conformable. When combined with Air Release, it delivers exceptional handling, minimal bubbles and a highly professional finish even under demanding conditions.

Why Air Release Matters for Today’s Installers
With demand for reflective chevrons increasing across fleets, utilities and contractors, installation time has become just as important as visibility. Air Release helps installers work efficiently without compromising on quality, making it a valuable upgrade for any trade professional.
Whether you fit chevron kits every day or only occasionally, Air Release delivers the consistency, reliability and ease of use that modern installation requires.
