At Chevron Warehouse, we provide thousands of Chevron Kits to businesses and individual users every year, helping to improve their safety while out on the road. Our Chevron Kits are designed to last, but it's important to follow these care and maintenance guidelines to ensure your Chevron Kit provides several years of quality display:
Cleaning Do's and Don'ts
Use a Fan Spray of Water: Using a gentle fan spray of water is essential for cleaning your Chevron Kit without causing damage. This method ensures that the water pressure is distributed evenly, minimising the risk of peeling or lifting the edges of the livery.
Maintain a Safe Distance: Always keep the nozzle of your cleaning equipment more than 1200mm away from the edges of the livery. This distance prevents high-pressure water from directly impacting the livery, which can cause it to peel or lift over time.
Use the Right Angle: Holding the nozzle at a 90-degree angle (perpendicular) to the vehicle ensures that the water spray hits the livery evenly. This technique helps avoid concentrated pressure on any part of the graphic, thereby maintaining its adhesion and appearance.
Opt for Mild Detergents: When washing your vehicle, use a mild detergent mixed with clean water. Harsh chemicals can degrade the material and reduce the lifespan of the graphics.
Soft Brush or Cloth: Clean the graphics with a soft brush or cloth to prevent scratches and other damage. Pay extra attention to the edges, as they are more vulnerable to lifting. We stock a wide range of soft cleaning and valeting cloths that are perfect for maintaining the integrity of your Chevron Kit.
Centre-Out Cleaning: Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean from the centre of the graphic outward. This method helps to avoid lifting the edges of the livery, ensuring that the graphics remain securely attached to the vehicle.
Avoid High Pressure on Edges: When cleaning, never direct high-pressure water at the edges of the livery. High-pressure water can force its way under the edges and cause peeling
No Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using solvents, abrasives, alcohol-based cleaners, and vehicle underbody cleaning solutions. These substances can cause significant damage to the livery by breaking down the adhesive or discolouring the material.
Do Not Steam Clean: Steam cleaning can be too harsh for your Chevron Kit and should be avoided. The high temperature and pressure can weaken the adhesive and cause the graphics to lift.
Control Pressure and Temperature: When using pressure washers please ensure that you do not exceed 75psi (5.1 bar) pressure and a maximum temperature of 38 degrees centigrade when cleaning your vehicle. Excessive pressure and heat can damage the livery and reduce its lifespan.
General Tips
Regular Inspections: Periodically check your Chevron Kit for any signs of lifting or damage. Addressing issues early can prevent further deterioration and extend the life of your graphics.
Gentle Handling: Always handle the graphics gently, particularly around the edges. Rough handling can weaken the adhesive and cause the graphics to lift or peel.
Prompt Cleaning: Regularly clean the graphics to remove dirt and grime, which can degrade the material over time. Keeping your Chevron Kit clean not only maintains its appearance but also its functionality - visit our website to see our full range of cleaning supplies.
